Camp Costanoan
Camp Costanoan is a non-profit residential, respite and recreational camp for children and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities. It is nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains in Stevens Creek Park.
The camp was founded in 1955 and is administered by Via Services. It services 70-120 campers per week during the season and offers horseback riding, aquatics, nature, creative arts, expressive arts music and drama, and creative movement.
The purpose of camp is to enhance campers' self-esteem, independence, as well as social and recreational skills. It provides the safe recreational environment for campers to engage in various activities and learn new skills. Additionally, the camp provides much needed respite for families of individuals with disabilities
The goal of EWB-SJSU is to design several hundred feet of accessible trail, leading campers from the cabins to the basketball court, provide the materials for the project and to assist in the construction of the trail. The trail will be designed utilizing ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines with a maximum slope of 5%.
